Participants will be introduced to Native American mat and basket weaving. Brian Krehbiel, from Agency Creek Expressions and tribal member from the confederated tribes of the Grand Ronde, will give a presentation on gathering native materials, processing and weaving, along with how he learned to weave. After the introduction he will guide 10 people in the weaving of a small mat and/or basket from start to finish using native plants that will be provided.
Participants will be introduced to Native American canoe carving. Brian Krehbiel, from Agency Creek Expressions and tribal member from the confederated tribes of the Grand Ronde, will give a presentation on gathering native materials, canoe carving techniques, along with how he learned to carve. After the introduction he will guide 10 people in carving a small 10-inch canoe from start to finish using native materials that will be provided.
